Giannis Antetokounmpo Deletes Bucks Content from Social Media amid NBA Trade Rumors

Andrew PetersDec 2, 2025

Over the summer, Giannis Antetokounmpo remained with the Milwaukee Bucks amid unending trade rumors.

Now, it seems his time with the team that drafted him could be nearing an end.

The star power forward deleted all of the Bucks content from his social media pages, keeping just the photos from his NBA championship and NBA Cup win. His bio on X reads "NBA Athlete."

The trade speculation around Antetokounmpo began in May when ESPN'sย Shams Charaniaย reported that the two-time MVP was, for the first time in his career, open to being traded.

Antetokounmpo never explicitly requested a trade over the summer, though a handful of teams,ย including the New York Knicks, reportedly were interested in him.

Antetokounmpo was asked about the trade speculation in October after a matchup against the Knicks, and he said he prefers to avoid the outside noise.

"Who said that? ... I'm here representing my team. That's it," heย said. "We beat the Knicks. ...I didn't read that article, try to stay away from all the rumors, speculation and trade and all this."

Heading into the season, it appeared Antetokounmpo and the Bucks were on solid ground, but now it appears he's grown frustrated with his squad. He called out his teammates' mindset last week.

"Nobody should have a personal agenda," Antetokounmpoย told reporters. "Nobody should worry about what they want from themselves. Worry only about winning mentality. Winning mindset. The more we can win the games, the more everything takes care of itself."

It's fair for Antetokounmpo to be frustrated, considering the way the season has started. The Bucks are currently 9-13 after losing eight of their last nine games, and that record is to no fault of Antetokounmpo, who is leading the team in points (30.6), rebounds (10.7) and assists (6.4).

Antetokounmpo has become arguably the most prolific player in Bucks history and is still just a few years removed from winning a title with the team, but his recent social media activity indicates a possible split from Milwaukee on the horizon.
