Latest Anthony Davis Injury News After Mavs Star Exits vs. Warriors on Christmas Day
Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis suffered right groin spasms during his team's Christmas Day game against the Golden State Warriors and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
He's expected to miss "a few games," according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Davis posted three points, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal in 11 minutes before exiting. P.J. Washington replaced him on the court, and Max Christie started for AD to begin the second half.
Davis missed 14 straight games early in the 2025-26 season after suffering a left calf strain in an Oct. 29 win against the Indiana Pacers.
He made his comeback on Nov. 28 but returned to the injury report on Dec. 14, when he was listed as "questionable" with a left calf contusion.
When available he has averaged 21.7 points and 11.4 rebounds while playing 31.2 minutes per game.
This marks the second straight season during which Davis has missed significant time due to injury.
After getting traded to the Mavericks last February as part of the blockbuster deal for Luka Dončić, Davis played just nine games while limited by injuries including a left adductor strain suffered in his Dallas debut.
He also suffered an eye injury which necessitated offseason surgery, and which Mavs head coach Jason Kidd later indicated had impacted his conditioning.
While Davis was sidelined with his left calf injury earlier this season, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported Mavs governor Patrick Dumont had requested medical data proving Davis was "not at risk of aggravating" the injury prior to approving his return.
Given Davis' injury history and the Mavericks' early-season struggles while both Davis and Kyrie Irving were sidelined, the team is likely to continue carefully managing the 32-year-old's health moving forward.
