Draymond Green Rips Warriors as 'F--king Awful' and Jimmy Butler Blasts 'Sad' Defense

Golden State Warriors veterans Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler were highly critical of the team's play following a 104-100 home loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Green called the Warriors' defense "s--t," before adding, "We are individually f--king awful."

Butler expressed similar sentiments, telling reporters, "We don't box out. We don't go with the scouting report. We let anybody do whatever they want—open shots, get into the paint, free throws. It's just sad."

On the surface, the Dubs seemed to turn in a solid defensive effort Wednesday in the form of holding the Rockets to 39 percent shooting from the floor and 28 percent shooting from beyond the arc, but Green explained why it still wasn't good enough.

"It's not necessarily the numbers," Green said. "How do you feel when you're out there? And if it's just letdown after letdown, it's bigger than the numbers. Defense is about demeanor. So if it's letdown after letdown and it kills your demeanor, it kills your bravado, then you're just a soft team."

Adding injury to insult, Warriors superstar guard Stephen Curry left Wednesday's game in the final minute due to a right quad contusion. He is set to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, per ESPN's Anthony Slater.

Butler was asked what the Warriors will have to do differently if Curry is forced to miss time, and he responded by saying, "I think we're gonna have to be damn near perfect. We ain't gonna have the ultimate bailout on the team. But even when he is on the floor, we're gonna have to do our job because we make the game real difficult."

With Wednesday's loss, the Warriors fell to 10-10 on the season, and they have now lost four of their past five games, essentially canceling out a 4-1 start.

Golden State now sits just eighth in the deep and talented Western Conference, 2.5 games out of an all-important top-six seed.

When Golden State returns to action Saturday, it will host a New Orleans Pelicans team with the worst record in the West at 3-16.

While that is the matchup the Warriors should be able to handle, it may not be a gimme if Curry is unable to play.
