Will LeBron James' Historic All-NBA Streak End? Latest Rumors on Lakers Star

LeBron James is at risk for missing out on an All-NBA team spot for the first time in 22 years.

After sitting out the first 14 games of the 2025-26 season amid his recovery from right-side sciatica, James can only miss three more games before hitting the 65-game minimum the NBA requires for end-of-season honors.

Whether James is able to play in at least 64 of the Lakers' remaining 67 games could depend not only on his health but on his desire to keep his All-NBA streak alive, ESPN's Dave McMenamin said Friday on NBA Today.

"The source I spoke to today said, 'Hey, at 41 years old, I'd rather LeBron skip back-to-backs,'" McMenamin said. "But we'll see how that aligns with his plans to maybe be eligible for All-NBA once again."

James beat a record previously held by Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar when he was named to his 16th All-NBA team in 2020.

He extended that record to 21 All-NBA appearances when he was named to the 2024-25 All-NBA Second Team last May.

When asked Tuesday what the Lakers' plan would be for James' usage heading into his record 23rd NBA season, head coach JJ Redick answered: "We'll do what we did last year, which is daily communication with him, with [Lakers assistant trainer Mike Mancias].

"I used the words 'uncharted territory' a few times in preseason. We're going to have to just manage this as best we can, given that there's no precedent for it, and he knows his body better than everyone... We'll figure out ways to get him rest when he needs rest."

The Lakers' next back-to-back is coming up next Sunday, Nov. 30, when the team is set to tip off a 9:30 p.m. ET home game against the New Orleans Pelicans just over 24 hours before a Dec. 1 matchup with the Phoenix Suns.

How James handles that two-game set could provide a hint as to what his load management will look like down the stretch of the 2025-26 season.
