Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns Sells Yoshinobu Yamamoto Rookie Card for Record at Auction

New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns helped set a new record Friday by selling the most expensive Yoshinobu Yamamoto trading card of all time, according to The Athletic's Larry Holder.

Towns sold a 1-of-1 2024 Topps Inception MLB Logoman card from the Los Angeles Dodgers ace's rookie season in a Fanatics Collect auction for $72,000.

The previous record was set by a 1-of-1 augraphed 2024 Topps Chrome LogoFractor rookie card, which sold for $40,260 last December through Goldin, according to Holder.

Towns shared a video of himself unwrapping the Logoman card, which features a logo patch from one of Yamamoto's uniforms alongside his autograph, on his card collection Instagram in September.

The card, along with its signature, received a Gem Mint 10 rating from PSA, according to Fanatics Collect.

The value of Yamamoto collectibles is climbing after the pitcher made MLB history during the Dodgers' run to a second straight title in 2025.

Yamamoto's run to the 2025 World Series MVP began when he pitched nine complete innings against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 2.

He then started a must-win Game 6 and closed out Game 7 to help the Dodgers recover from a 3-2 series deficit to win the title.

The all-time record price for a Yamamoto trading card is likely to continue rising in the future. Topps confirmed on Nov. 5 that the code for Yamamoto's Rookie Debut Patch Autograph card, which was released with the 2024 Topps Chrome Update Series last November, has yet to be redeemed.
