Tyrese Maxey's Epic Showing Wows NBA Fans as 76ers Beat Bucks in OT Without Giannis
Led by a career night from Tyrese Maxey, the Philadelphia 76ers wrapped up a 123-114 overtime win over the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum on Thursday night.
After the 76ers started to pull away in overtime with a three-pointer from Quentin Grimes, both Grimes and Maxey combined to connect on seven free throws that sealed the final result.
Maxey finished with a career-high 54 points, shooting 18-of-30 from the field and 6-of-15 from behind the arc. He also recorded nine assists, five rebounds, three steals and three blocks.
While the Bucks were missing superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo due to a groin strain, fans were still amazed by Maxey's performance.
Paul George also stepped up in the victory, as he made his second appearance of the 2025-26 season. George scored 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting in just 25 minutes on the floor. He grabbed five rebounds and picked up a pair of steals as well.
Philadelphia opened Thursday's contest with a 13-4 advantage and held a 13-point lead at the end of the first quarter, but Milwaukee responded by outscoring the 76ers 37-22 in the second period.
The second half of the game was especially hard-fought, as neither team led by more than six points during the final two quarters.
A three-pointer from Bucks center Myles Turner gave Milwaukee a two-point lead with 15 seconds left in regulation, but Maxey was fouled while driving to the basket on Philadelphia's ensuing possession and hit two free throws to send the game to overtime.
Ryan Rollins led the way for the Bucks in Antetokounmpo's absence, finishing with 32 points and 14 assists compared to just three turnovers. Rollins shot 50 percent from the field and connected on all four of his free throws.
Turner also recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, shooting 3-of-9 from three-point territory.
The 76ers improved to 9-6 with the win, while the Bucks fell to 8-8.
