Kevin Durant, Rockets Seen as NBA Title Threat by Fans After Win vs. Mitchell, Cavs

Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets earned a 114-104 road win over Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.

Durant finished with 20 points, three rebounds and three assists on 6-of-18 shooting. Alperen Sengun led the way with 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting, adding 11 rebounds and seven assists to spark the victory.

Mitchell had 21 points, two assists and three rebounds for Cleveland, which fell to 10-6 with the loss.

With Wednesday's win, Durant and the Rockets drew praise as a potential title contender after a dominant start to the season.

The Rockets improved to 10-3, while going 5-2 on the road. 

Houston took a decisive 17-point lead over the Cavs at halftime, led by 13 points from Durant, while Sengun added 10. Mitchell entered the break with just two points, while De'Andre Hunter led the team with 11. 

Cleveland clawed back with a 30-17 third quarter to narrow the gap heading into the fourth, but the Rockets held onto their lead to secure the win.

The Rockets will host Denver on Friday before heading out for a four-game road trip.
