Luka Says Lakers' LeBron James Does Things 'Other People Can't' After Season Debut
The wait for LeBron James to make his season debut for the Los Angeles Lakers was worth it, as the future Hall of Famer put up 11 points and 12 assists in 30 minutes during Tuesday's 140-126 win over the Utah Jazz.
Luka Dončić put it best after the game when he told reporters that James "does things that other people can't" on a basketball court.
"He does things that other people can't. He's here to help us all," Dončić said.
The 140 points for the Lakers were their most in a game since last season when they put up 140 against the Houston Rockets on April 11.
James missed the first 14 games of the regular season due to sciatica affecting the right side of his body. Even though he wasn't in peak form right out of the gate, there was very little to indicate he was rusty from his time off.
The NBA's all-time leading scorer had an efficient shooting night, making four of his seven attempts from the field. He also fit in seamlessly with a Lakers offense that has been firing on all cylinders, led by Dončić and Austin Reaves, since the start of the season.
Los Angeles' main trio finished Tuesday's win with a combined 74 points on 22-of-40 shooting, 13 rebounds, 23 assists and six steals. The level of competition will eventually get more difficult, but the schedule is set up for this team to go on a nice run leading into December.
The next four games for the Lakers (11-4) are against the Jazz in Utah on Sunday, followed by three straight at home against the Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans.
