When Will Pistons' Cade Cunningham Get New Signature Shoe After Signing Nike Contract?
Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham signed a six-year extension with Nike that will include his own signature shoe, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
The shoe is tentatively scheduled to arrive during the 2026-27 NBA season.
Five other active players in the league have a signature line with Nike: Houston Rockets' Kevin Durant, Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James, Memphis Grizzlies' Ja Morant, Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo and Phoenix Suns' Devin Booker.
This is another sign of Cunningham's ascension on the court. He was an All-Star for the first time in 2024-25 and has taken another step forward to start this year.
The 6'6" playmaker is averaging 27.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 9.9 assists. He had his 12th career triple-double in a 137-135 overtime win over the Washington Wizards on Nov. 10, finishing with 46 points, 12 boards and 11 dimes.
The Pistons, meanwhile, own the best record in the Eastern Conference at 11-2.
The race for the East crown became wide open after Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum tore his Achilles. There isn't one clear favorite in the conference, and the teams many had high hopes for (Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and Orlando Magic) have flattered to deceive.
Maybe Detroit starts to regress, but there's no reason why it can't claim the top seed on the basis of the first month. Cunningham, for his part, is on track for another All-NBA nod.
If the Pistons go on to prove themselves as a true contender, Cunningham's signature shoe could be hitting shelves at an ideal time next season.
