What is the Timeline for OG Anunoby's Return to Knicks After Hamstring Injury?
The New York Knicks reportedly will be without a key member of their lineup for the next few games.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Sunday that Knicks wing OG Anunoby will miss at least the next two weeks before being re-evaluated after suffering a left hamstring strain.
Anunoby was in the starting lineup for Friday night's NBA Cup matchup against the Miami Heat but exited the game after just two minutes and didn't return. Charania added that he will not travel with New York for its upcoming five-game road trip.
The Knicks went on to earn a 140-132 win over the Heat behind star center Karl-Anthony Towns' 39 points and 11 rebounds, along with veteran guard Landry Shamet's career-high 36 points off the bench.
Anunoby has started all 12 games for the 8-4 Knicks this season and averaged 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.9 steals, the latter of which tied his career-high. He shot 47.6 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from three-point range.
Losing Anunoby is yet another blow to a New York squad that also lost star point guard Jalen Brunson to a sprained right ankle. He sat out Friday's game against Miami, and Charania reported that he would be "evaluated daily moving forward."
Anunoby's absence will likely move veteran swingman Josh Hart into the starting lineup while creating more minutes for Shamet and veteran guard Jordan Clarkson. The Knicks will be back in action on Monday when they travel to face the Heat in a rematch of their game from Friday.
