Could Anthony Davis Be Traded to Warriors? DeMarcus Cousins Weighs in on Mavs Rumors

Zach BacharNov 13, 2025

A trade between the Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors involving Anthony Davis was suggested by former NBA star Demarcus Cousins on Thursday.

"Ad to the warriors would be interesting," Cousins wrote in a post on X.

Joe Vardon, Christian Clark and Sam Amick of The Athletic reported Wednesday that Davis "finds himself at the center of league-wide speculation that he might be the next to go" after the Mavericks fired general manager Nico Harrison.

Cousins was previously teammates with Davis on the New Orleans Pelicans from 2017-18 and played on the Golden State Warriors during his 2018-19 campaign.

The Mavericks have opened this season with a 3-9 record, owning the seventh-worst net rating in the league (via NBA.com).

Dallas has been hampered by injuries to open the year, with Davis, Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II already missing multiple games due to injuries. Star point guard Kyrie Irving is also working his way back from a torn ACL that he suffered on March 3.

Davis will carry cap hits of $54.1 million this season and $58.5 million next season before holding a $62.8 million player option for his 2027-28 campaign.

With the Mavericks' front office no longer led by Harrison, who acquired Davis in the blockbuster swap that sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 2, the 32-year-old could experience another change of scenery on the trade market.

Golden State might be among the teams searching for frontcourt help ahead of the trade deadline, as it sits at just 7-6 this year after wrapping up a 48-34 finish last season.

The potential veteran core of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Davis is also intriguing.

Despite Davis' limited availability this season, he's still averaged 20.8 points and 10.2 rebounds to go along with 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 52.0 percent from the field.
