What is Jalen Brunson's Injury After Being Seen on Crutches and Walking Boot?

Zach BacharNov 13, 2025

New York Knicks star point guard Jalen Brunson left Madison Square Garden in a walking boot and crutches following the team's 124-107 loss to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, according to James L. Edwards III of The Athletic.

The Knicks didn't release an official report regarding the injury, per Edwards, but head coach Mike Brown said that Brunson rolled his ankle toward the end of the game.

Brunson suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter of the defeat, as he appeared to turn his right ankle while driving to the basket.

Brunson finished with 31 points, six assists and three rebounds in 37 minutes of action before leaving the game. He shot 10-of-23 from the field and 1-of-4 from behind the arc.

While Brunson has remained relatively healthy throughout his tenure on the Knicks, it's worth noting that he missed 15 games near the end of the 2024-25 season due to a right ankle sprain.

If the reigning Clutch Player of the Year is forced to miss an extended period of time with his latest injury, it'll be a tough blow to a Knicks squad looking to contend for the Eastern Conference crown.

Brunson continued to operate as New York's leading scorer to open his 2025-26 campaign, averaging 27.7 points and 6.6 assists per game on 47.1/37.5/88.3 shooting splits heading into Wednesday's action.

The Knicks currently sit at 7-4, owning the fourth-best net rating in the league (via NBA.com).

If Brunson can't play moving forward, Miles McBride is a top candidate to replace him in New York's starting lineup. Mikal Bridges should take on more ball-handling responsibilities, while Karl-Anthony Towns will become the Knicks' No. 1 offensive option.
