Mark Cuban Responds to Report About Mavs Role After Nico Harrison Firing
Former Dallas Mavericks governor and current minority owner Mark Cuban clarified his role within the team following the firing of general manager Nico Harrison on Tuesday.
After ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported that Cuban and current Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont "have been in frequent dialogue in recent months," which marked a "significant change after Cuban was pushed completely out of basketball operations last season," the 67-year-old denied his increased involvement.
"He didn't get that from me," Cuban told Alex Schiffer of Front Office Sports. "I have no idea who made it up."

Kerr Not Expected to Return
Cuban sold the controlling interest of the Mavericks to the Adelson and Dumont families for over $4 billion in Dec. 2023.
He later revealed that he was initially set to continue controlling basketball operations following the sale, but his influence within the organization steadily declined while the team advanced to the 2024 NBA Finals.
Cuban also explained that he was shocked by Dallas' surprising decision to trade superstar Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2024-25 season.
For now, the Mavericks will be searching for a new general manager while Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi are expected to serve as co-interim general managers.
It doesn't appear as though the front office shakeup has resulted in an increased role for Cuban, though.
