Nico Harrison Updates IG Bio to 'Unemployed' After Being Fired as Mavs GM
Nico Harrison wasted no time changing his employment status on social media after being fired by the Dallas Mavericks.
The former Mavs general manager changed his Instagram bio from "GM of the Dallas Mavericks" to "Unemployed" just hours after his exit in Dallas.
Harrison was the Mavericks' general manager from 2021 until Tuesday. While there were some positive moments during his tenure, like Dallas' NBA Finals appearance in 2024, his time in the front office will mostly be remembered for what happened last season.
In February, Harrison traded face of the franchise Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in return for Anthony Davis in one of the most shocking moves in NBA history.
"I believe that defense wins championships," Harrison said regarding that trade. "I believe that getting an All-Defensive center and an All-NBA player with a defensive mindset gives us a better chance. We're built to win now and in the future."
Mavs fans, understandably, weren't a fan of that trade, and Harrison has dealt with "Fire Nico" chants in the months since. Now, those fans have their wish, and Harrison is on the lookout for his next job.
Before his time with the Mavericks, he spent nearly two decades with Nike in various roles, most recently as vice president of North American basketball operations, meaning his only front office experience came during his time in Dallas.
What comes next for Harrison remains to be seen, but he might opt to spend some time enjoying being out of the spotlight while he's unemployed.
