Jimmer Fredette to Sign with Spurs: Latest Contract Details, Comments, Reaction
After suiting up for three teams over his first four NBA seasons, Jimmer Fredette is headed to San Antonio after the Spurs locked up the former BYU standout with a contract.
Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski added that Fredette is signing a "training camp deal." As Project Spurs' Paul Garcia pointed out, a training camp deal is by no means indicative of a long-term financial commitment:

Harden: Fatigue Not Excuse

Mitchell Quote on Knick Fans 👀
According to Stein, San Antonio's desire to add perimeter talent led it to the 26-year-old:
After the Sacramento Kings selected Fredette No. 10 overall in the 2011 draft, he went on to play two-and-a-half seasons in California's capital before the team waived him in February 2014. The Chicago Bulls subsequently signed him in March 2014 to a rest-of-the-season deal, and he went on to sign a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans last summer.
In 50 appearances for the Pelicans, Fredette averaged just 3.6 points while shooting a career-worst 38.0 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from three.
But as Synergy Sports Tech noted, last year may have represented an exception to the rule when it came to his long-distance shooting:
"Jimmer Fredette shot 19% from 3 with NOP last season on 48 attempts, but was a career 40% 3P shooter prior to that.
— Synergy Sports Tech (@SynergySST) July 22, 2015"
Last year's performance excluded, Fredette has proved he's capable of doing one thing extremely well.
Since perimeter-oriented players on the Spurs' bench mob currently include Patty Mills, Manu Ginobili, Matt Bonner and Kyle Anderson, it couldn't hurt to take a low-risk, high-reward flier on a knockdown shooter such as Fredette.
