AJ Dybantsa shined as No. 8 BYU cruised to a 98-53 win over Holy Cross on Saturday night.

Dybantsa finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one block while shooting 7-of-10 from the field. Although the freshman missed both of his three-point attempts, he connected on all three of his free throws.

Fans were impressed with the performance.

The Cougars didn't face much resistance during Saturday's contest, opening the game on a 10-0 run before jumping out to a 17-2 edge.

BYU's defense was stout, limiting the Crusaders to just 25 points in the first half.

The Cougars ended up leading by as many as 46 points in the second half, easily securing the win. BYU's offensive output was especially impressive considering the team shot just 28 percent from behind the arc.

Dybantsa continued his strong start to the year, as he previously dropped 21 points and six rebounds during his regular-season debut for the Cougars on Monday.

Expectations are high for the 18-year-old, who committed to BYU as the No. 1 player in the country as part of the 2025 recruiting class (via 247Sports' composite rankings).

It also isn't difficult to imagine Dybantsa playing in the NBA in the near future, as he was projected to be off the board with the No. 3 overall pick in the latest 2026 mock draft from Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman.

For now, he helped BYU open its 2025-26 campaign with a 2-0 record.
