Will Jayden Daniels Play This Season After Injury? Latest NFL Rumors on Commanders QB
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels' status for the rest of this season is up in the air given where the team currently sits in the standings.
Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano, the Commanders are keeping all of their options on the table involving their star quarterback.
Graziano noted that despite some "external" debate about bringing Daniels back, the plan in Washington remains for him to play "once doctors clear him from his elbow injury."

Fowler added that Daniels being shut down for the season "remains a possibility," but sources maintain he "could return as quickly as three weeks" from when the injury occurred.
A three-week timeline would have Daniels back on the field coming out of the bye in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos.
Daniels was previously ruled out of Washington's Week 11 matchup with the Miami Dolphins due to the elbow injury.
He suffered a dislocated elbow in the fourth quarter of the Commanders' 38-14 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9.
Fowler reported Nov. 8 that the second-year passer "could potentially be back after three weeks," but also noted that the recovery process might "turn into a five-to-six week thing real fast."
Following a stellar rookie year, Daniels' second season in the NFL has been marred by injuries.
Prior to the loss to the Seahawks, he was only available for five of Washington's first eight games of the year while dealing with hamstring and knee issues.
When Daniels was able to suit up, he completed 62.5 percent of his throws for 1,184 yards and eight touchdowns compared to two interceptions. He also picked up 262 yards and two scores on the ground.
While Daniels' individual production was impressive, it still represented a step down from a 2024 campaign in which he received Offensive Rookie of the Year recognition. He completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns, getting picked off just nine times.
Daniels rushed for 891 yards and six touchdowns as well, leading the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game.
With Washington sitting at 3-8 and having lost six straight games, it'll continue to rely on backup signal-caller Marcus Mariota until Daniels' return date is set.
