Will Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin Play for Commanders vs. Dolphins in Spain?

Andrew PetersNov 10, 2025

The Washington Commanders will be without a pair of key offensive players this week.

Per Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said quarterback Jayden Daniels won't travel to Madrid for Washington's matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Wide receiver Terry McLaurin will travel with the team, but won't play.

Daniels suffered a gruesome dislocated elbow injury in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks, but the second-year player luckily avoided any ligament damage and won't need surgery. That means that he won't be placed on the injured reserve could return within the next month.

Before his elbow injury, Daniels had previously missed three games because of hamstring and knee injuries. In six games, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year has thrown for 1,184 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions, adding 262 yards on the ground and a pair of scores.

Daniels' elbow injury came in the fourth quarter against the Seahawks as Washington trailed 38-7. Quinn admitted afterward that he should have pulled Daniels from the game earlier.

"I just missed it," Quinn said. "That is 100% on me."

With Daniels out, the Commanders will once again turn to Marcus Mariota, who has thrown for 852 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions in six games.

McLaurin, who agreed to a three-year, $96 million contract ahead of the season, has played just four games this season. He suffered a quad injury in Week 3 and returned in Week 8, but aggravated the injury and has been out ever since.

McLaurin, who has recorded five consecutive seasons with 1,000 or more receiving yards, has 203 yards and a touchdown this year.

After a magical season last year that saw them reach the NFC Championship, the Commanders have been far less successful this year. With injuries piling up, Washington has started the season 3-7 and has lost five consecutive games, the most recent being a 44-22 blowout against the Detroit Lions.

With their playoff dreams virtually over, the Commanders will look to hit the reset button against the Dolphins this week, but that might be tough with no Daniels or McLaurin.
