Nico Harrison Called Out By NBA Fans as Cooper Flagg, Mavs Lose to Morant, Grizzlies
Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks fell short in a 118–104 loss to Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies at home Friday night, as fans began directing criticism toward general manager Nico Harrison.
Flagg and the Mavericks dropped their fourth straight game, falling to 2–7 on the season, while the Grizzlies snapped a four-game skid to improve to 4–6 and notch their first win in NBA Cup Group Play.
The rookie out of Duke finished with 12 points, six rebounds and two assists on 5-of-10 shooting from the field, while Max Christie led Dallas with 18 points. Klay Thompson went 0-of-6 from the field, finishing scoreless in the loss.
For Memphis, Morant recorded 21 points and 13 assists, adding three steals, while Jaren Jackson Jr. tallied 17 points and four rebounds to help power the Grizzlies' offense.
Fans took aim at Harrison for the Mavericks' struggles, frustrated by the team's 2–7 start despite a roster loaded with veteran talent.
The Grizzlies entered halftime with a 10-point lead before an explosive third quarter blew the game open, extending their advantage to 74–51 heading into the fourth.
The Mavericks tried to rally late, outscoring Memphis 24–16 in the final frame, but couldn't overcome their early deficit and ultimately fell to the Grizzlies.
Dallas will host the Washington Wizards on Saturday, while the Grizzlies will face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday in Memphis.
