NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Michigan CB Jyaire Hill

Daniel HarmsDec 4, 2025

Jyaire Hill has the tools and movement skills to excel in any scheme he plays, thanks to his growing technical ability, aggressiveness, and a "next play" mentality that all corners need to succeed. He blows up screens with quick trigger and play recognition, navigating under and around blocks with a finisher's aggression.

A former 4-star, Hill comes into 2025 off the heels of an up-and-down season that saw him with 35 tackles (26 solo), five and a half tackles for loss, one sack, an interception, and eight passes defensed. He's looking to add his name to the long list of Michigan corners who have been highly drafted, come April.

Dan has covered the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL Draft since 2019 while contributing for RGR Football. Most recently, he spent the 2025 draft cycle at The Draft Network and is entering his first season in our scouting department.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 01 Purdue at Michigan

— Hill is a schematically versatile corner who showcases the athletic ability to execute a wide variety of assignments. He sees route concepts unfold well and is quick to trigger downhill on throws.

— With room to add weight, the 6'2", 190-pound corner plays a physical brand of football with his jam technique in press man, ability to throw off blocks, and willingness to throw around his body.

— His feel for depth, ability to read quarterback body language, and willingness to pass off routes and pick up others make him an asset in zone coverage. He diagnoses plays to the flat in an instant and flies in.

— A willing participant in the run and screen game, Hill does a good job triggering and maintaining outside leverage to force ball carriers back to help. He's a sure tackler and reactive athlete in space to limit yards after the catch.

Areas of Improvement

2 of 4
Central Michigan v Michigan

— Hill plays with a physicality teams want to see, but he needs to improve his jam timing and technique in press coverage. Relying on two hands sees receivers swipe and release quickly, stacking him downfield.

— Locating the football down the field will improve the ball production for Hill. He gets his hands on the ball often enough, but his poor tracking limits his interception ability, and he can get outworked at the catch point.

— Overall down-to-down consistency with his eyes and feel for depth is still a work in progress. He bites on quick moves and will get beat with better releases from smooth receivers.
