The Indiana Pacers are reportedly making some changes to their backcourt depth chart following their 1-7 start to the season.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Thursday that the Pacers are waiving guard Mac McClung and using the open roster spot to sign veteran Monte Morris.

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, the Pacers incur a $164,060 salary cap hit this season after releasing McClung, who joined the team on a two-year contract on Oct. 28. The second year of his deal was not guaranteed.

The three-time NBA dunk contest champion appeared in a career-high three games for Indiana and averaged 6.3 points in 11.3 minutes of action. Since joining the league as an undrafted free agent in 2021, he has spent most of his time in the G League and has never played in more than two regular-season NBA games.

A second-round pick in the 2017 draft, Morris spent the first five years of his career with the Denver Nuggets before stints with the Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns. He played 45 games for the Suns in 2024-25 and averaged 5.2 points.

The Pacers have been struggling without star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who is expected to miss the entire season after suffering a torn Achilles in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Indiana had hoped that Andrew Nembhard would fill the void, but he suffered a shoulder injury in the season opener and hasn't played since. Sharpshooting guard Bennedict Mathurin got off to a hot start with an average of 31.0 points through the first two games, but he's been sidelined with a toe injury.

The Pacers will try to start turning things around when they return to action on Saturday against the Nuggets.
