NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Georgia TE Lawson Luckie

Daniel HarmsDec 4, 2025

Lawson Luckie is a matchup problem for defenses with the variety of ways he can win as a receiving option. With great athletic ability, route nuance, and excellent ball skills, Luckie can be a headache to deal with when given the opportunity.

The 6'4", 240-pound tight end is a great option as a move tight end at the next level and provides alignment versatility to take advantage of matchups in the secondary.

He's a former 4-star recruit who has played his entire collegiate career at Georgia and is coming off a good season while in a crowded tight end room. He caught 24 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns during his sophomore season at Georgia. While his junior year hasn't lived up to expectations, the talent on the field is apparent.

Dan has covered the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL Draft since 2019 while contributing for RGR Football. Most recently, he spent the 2025 draft cycle at The Draft Network and is entering his first season in our scouting department.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
Ole Miss v Georgia

— Luckie takes advantage of matchups when aligned in the slot or as a detached tight end. Uses acceleration and stem manipulation to create space for himself over the middle of the field.

— He's a nuanced route runner with a good base release package, manipulation tactics, and head usage to sell routes. He forces defenders to hesitate on his route stem to get open.

— The former 4-star locates soft spots in zone and has a natural feel for when to sit down in space and become available. His ability to decelerate and change direction helps him locate space.

— Displays excellent body control and timing with the ball in the air, paired with natural ball skills. He attacks the ball in the air and plucks it away from his body.

—Flashes the ability to succeed as a move blocker in an offense while working leverage to the right angle and relocating his hands.

Areas of Improvement

2 of 4
Georgia v Tennessee

—Luckie appears to have the room to fill out and add functional strength to his frame, which he needs to play an in-line function at the next level. Adding more physicality to his game will help him as a blocker and receiver.

— Fine-tuning his blocking technique not to lunge, play with a more substantial base, and stay connected on blocks in the run game will increase his three-down viability.

— He isn't an overly explosive accelerator or lateral mover, making it difficult to separate against man coverage and create after the catch.
