Lakers' Luka Jokes Austin Reaves is 'Stupid' for 40 PPG Comment Despite Historic Play
Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić is off to a historic start to the season after dropping his third consecutive 40-point game on Friday, but he admitted that it will be hard to keep up his pace.
"That's going to be tough," Dončić told reporters when asked about averaging 40 points per game. "Sometimes they're going to double me more. Sometimes I won't be able to score that much. I had I think three or four shots that were crazy shots that I felt like doing, but they were terrible shots. So … I've got to work on that. But that's tough. I don't know."

Dončić's teammate, Austin Reaves, said Dončić is capable of averaging 40 points per game.
"Austin's stupid," Dončić joked.
Dončić had 43-point and 49-point outings in back-to-back games to start the season before missing a week due to a finger and leg injury. He returned to action on Friday and dropped 44 points, 12 boards and six assists in a 117-112 win.
ESPN's Dave McMenamin noted that Dončić is the first Laker since Kobe Bryant in 2007 to average 45 points or more in a three-game span.
As good a scorer as Dončić is, it's a bit unrealistic for him to put up 40 points per game. Still, he could be on his way to a career year as he chases his first MVP award.
