Jaylen Brown Impresses Fans as Celtics Beat Joel Embiid, 76ers in NBA Cup Opener
Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics survived a comeback attempt from the Philadelphia 76ers to open their NBA Cup slate with a victory.
Brown was the Celtics' offensive catalyst from the start. He led the team with 32 points, including 12 from beyond the arc.
Philadelphia had the opportunity to win the game at the buzzer through Joel Embiid, but Embiid couldn't get the shot off in time.
With the win, the Celtics moved to the top of what could be a very competitive East Group B in the NBA Cup group stage. Brooklyn, Orlando and Detroit also reside in the group.
Anfernee Simons contributed 19 points. Derrick White and Payton Pritchard each had 15 points in the win.
Boston is back in action at home on Saturday against the Houston Rockets. The Celtics play the Sixers again on November 11. That will be the third matchup of the early season between the Eastern Conference rivals.
