Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald spoke to an anonymous NBA general manager who intimated Miami could look to move either Shabazz Napier or Mario Chalmers. The GM added that the Heat could dangle Andersen as a potential trade chip as well but that they hadn't personally offered the 37-year-old in a trade.
Given his age, you can understand why the Heat might not see Andersen as part of their future plans. He's also set to earn $5 million in 2015-16, which is quite a bit to pay somebody who averaged 5.3 points and five rebounds per game last year.
With all of that said, trading him might not be the best idea given what else Miami has at center. Hassan Whiteside is obviously locked in as the starter, but the newly signed Amar'e Stoudemire is far from a sure thing given his injury history.
Having Andersen will provide some nice depth in the event Stoudemire goes down or simply needs to take a night off.
