Tyrese Maxey Makes History, Gets Early MVP Buzz from NBA Fans in 76ers' Win vs. Magic
Tyrese Maxey has made strides every year of his career, from coming off the bench for the Philadelphia 76ers to earning an All-Star nod and being named Most Improve Player a year ago.
Now, the 76ers star is getting MVP buzz.
Maxey dropped 43 points against the Orlando Magic on Monday to help Philadelphia improve to 3-0 on the season. The performance marked his second 40-plus-point night of the season already.
Maxey and star rookie VJ Edgecombe have already made history early on.
Some fans believe it's time to put Maxey in the MVP conversation.
It's still very early in the season, so plenty can happen, but it's hard to argue that Maxey hasn't looked like an MVP-caliber player so far.
He's stepped up big with his co-star, Joel Embiid, struggling in his first two outings and missing Monday's contest. Unfortunately for the 76ers, Embiid being out will almost certainly be a trend again this year, which means they'll need Maxey to play well to keep them afloat.
If Maxey keeps playing at this level while leading Philadelphia to the postseason, he very well could end up being a finalist for the NBA's most-coveted individual award.
