Terry McLaurin Eyes Injury Return for Commanders vs. Chiefs, 'I Feel Like Myself'

Paul KasabianOct 24, 2025

Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who has missed his team's last four games with a right quad injury, is feeling good and expressed his excitement toward potentially returning on Monday at the Kansas City Chiefs.

"I'm happy to say that I feel like myself, so I'm just looking forward to getting back out there," McLaurin told reporters Friday (h/t ESPN's John Keim).

McLaurin initially suffered the injury on Sept. 21 in a 41-24 win against the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he fully participated in practice on Thursday and Friday, bringing optimism that he could return for a big Monday Night Football matchup.

The 30-year-old McLaurin is in his seventh NFL season. He's amassed at least 77 catches and 1,002 yards in each of his last five campaigns. The 2024 season, with rookie Jayden Daniels at quarterback, featured a phenomenal campaign for McLaurin, who caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards and a career-high 13 touchdowns. McLaurin's efforts helped Washington reach the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991.

Naturally, McLaurin's return is a welcome sight for a short-handed Commanders team that's gone just 1-3 without their WR1 en route to a 3-4 start. Washington is notably missing quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has been sidelined for two games due to injury. He hasn't practiced on Thursday or Friday this week due to a hamstring ailment and is expected to sit against the Chiefs. Marcus Mariota is slated to start.

Hopefully Daniels is able to return soon, but thankfully, McLaurin appears ready to return. Kickoff Monday is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
