Mets' Francisco Lindor Reportedly Had 'Minor' Surgery on Elbow Injury

Adam WellsOct 22, 2025

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor recently underwent minor surgery on his right elbow.

Per SNY's Andy Martino, Lindor had a "minor cleanup" procedure soon after the end of the regular season.

Martino added that Lindor is expected to be at full strength when the Mets open spring training in February.

There was nothing about Lindor's performance during the 2025 season to suggest he was limited by the elbow issue. He hit .267/.346/.466 with 31 homers and 31 stolen bases in 160 games.

It has been fairly common for Lindor to play through injuries and ailments during the season. He had surgery in October 2023 to remove bone spurs that were an issue throughout that season, yet he still played in 160 games and finished ninth in NL MVP voting.

Lindor suffered a broken pinky toe on his right foot in June after fouling a ball off his foot, but he only missed one game before returning to the lineup.

The Mets had a disappointing finish to the 2025 season after a very promising start. They were 45-24 and led the NL East by 5.5 games on June 12 before going 38-55 over the final 93 games to miss the playoffs.

There could be significant changes in Queens this offseason. Pete Alonso is once again headed for free agency after opting out of his contract. Edwin Díaz has an opt-out in his deal that he's expected to use.

Having Lindor ready for the start of spring training will help ease some of the concerns that Mets fans will have about their team going into 2026. They have an outstanding duo to build around with Juan Soto entering his second year with the organization.
