LeBron, Luka Star in Lakers' 'Obsess Over Greatness' Training Video Before Opener

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and Luka Dončić appeared in a video dropped by the team in advance of the squad's season opener at home against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.

James, Dončić and co. are seen practicing, working out and getting ready for a big season ahead. There's great hope for this team with a full season of Dončić, who arrived in town via a blockbuster trade from the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 1.

Last year's squad won 50 games and earned the No. 3 spot in the Western Conference playoffs but fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.

This year's team appears better on paper with Dončić in purple and gold from Day 1 in addition to some key offseason acquisitions in center Deandre Ayton, guard Marcus Smart and forward Jake LaRavia.

The big key to this season may be the health of James, the four-time NBA MVP and 21-time All-NBA player entering his 23rd NBA season. Unfortunately, the 40-year-old will miss the beginning of the season due to sciatica on his right side. He and the Lakers are reportedly targeting a mid-November return, per Shams Charania of ESPN.

Thankfully, this doesn't appear to be a long-term ailment. In the meantime, the Lakers will forge ahead and hope for a good start to the 2025-26 campaign on Tuesday, with tipoff set for 10 p.m. ET.
