Kings' DeMar DeRozan Says He's 'Fueled' by 'Bulls--t' Lists, 'Without a Doubt'

Timothy RappOct 20, 2025

DeMar DeRozan doesn't seem to be a fan of media-driven power rankings or player ratings. That doesn't mean he's against using them as motivation, however.

"You've gotta find fuel wherever you can find it, and that's definitely one of them," he told reporters. "To see those bulls--t lists they put out there, you definitely gotta be fueled off that, without a doubt. ... We feed off that energy, and everybody else has to take that personally too."

It's unclear if there was a particular list DeRozan was referencing, but the preseason power rankings haven't been terribly kind to the Kings.

B/R's Andy Bailey had the team ranked 18th ahead of the preseason, and that was one of the more favorable prognostications. ESPN's group of NBA reporters and pundits put them at No. 21. NBA.com's John Schuhmann has them 26th. Law Murray of The Athletic ranked them at No. 16. Kurt Helin of NBC Sports had them at No. 25.

So there you go, DeMar—a whole compilation of motivation for you, with most NBA pundits believing your Kings will be outside the playoff mix this season. Do with it as you will.
