Victor Wembanyama, Dylan Harper Duo Excites NBA Fans as Spurs Beat Pacers
The San Antonio Spurs will roll into the 2025-26 campaign off the strength of a 5-0 preseason after an impressive 133-104 home win over the Indiana Pacers.
Victor Wembanyama posted 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, 12 rebounds and four blocks in just 23 minutes. He led six Spurs players in double digits in scoring. Wembanyama, who sat out the final two months of last season after suffering deep vein right thrombosis in his right shoulder, has looked great of late, averaging 21.3 points, 10.0 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per game in his last three preseason contests.
Dylan Harper, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, had six points on 3-of-10 shooting, three assists, two rebounds and four turnovers off the bench. He's fared well overall in the preseason, notably averaging 10.0 PPG on 57.1 percent shooting and 5.5 APG in 20 minutes per game over his first two contests.
Ultimately, there's plenty to be excited about in San Antonio, which could be in line for a big rise up the standings after finishing 13th in the Western Conference last year.
Fans and analysts are certainly enamored with Wembanyama, with a few even comparing him to Los Angeles Dodgers two-way megastar Shohei Ohtani, who hit three home runs and pitched six shutout innings (with 10 strikeouts) in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.
Fans were impressed with Harper too.
The Spurs begin the season on Wednesday when they visit the Dallas Mavericks.
