Russell Westbrook to Wear No. 18 Kings Jersey After Contract in NBA Free Agency

Russell Westbrook is debuting a number with the Sacramento Kings.

Westbrook's new No. 18 jersey was revealed in a video posted Thursday by the Kings.

Westbrook has previously worn either No. 0 or No. 4 throughout his 17-year NBA career, per Basketball Reference.

He also wore No. 7 while helping Team USA win gold during the 2012 London Olympics.

Westbrook most recently wore No. 4 with the Denver Nuggets before signing a one-year contract with the Kings earlier this week.

The former No. 4 pick of the 2008 draft wore No. 0 while spending his first 11 NBA seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Westbrook kept the number when playing for the Houston Rockets in 2019-20 before switching to No. 4 with the Washington Wizards in 2020-21.

After returning to No. 0 for stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, Westbrook reclaimed No. 4 during his 2024-25 season with the Nuggets.

Malik Monk has worn No. 0 for his last three seasons with the Kings, while Doug McDermott took No. 7 last season. The franchise retired No. 4 in honor of Chris Webber in 2009.

With those numbers potentially off the table, Westbrook went for No. 18 ahead of his 18th season in the NBA.

The last player to wear No. 18 for the Kings was Jalen Slawson, who donned the number for 12 games with the franchise during the 2023-24 season, per Basketball Reference.

The only other Kings player to wear the number in the last 35 years is Omri Casspi, who played parts of five seasons with the team between 2009 and 2017.

Westbrook will debut his new number when the Kings tip off the 2025-26 season next Wednesday against the host Phoenix Suns.
