According to Sportico's Kurt Badenhausen, the NBA's average team valuation of $5.5 billion represents a 20 percent increase from last year and a whopping 113 percent increase from 2022, when the average was $2.6 billion.
The lowest-ranked team is the Memphis Grizzlies at $4 billion, 2.5 times the value of the lowest-ranked team from 2022, which was valued at $1.63 billion. The full top 10 is as follows:
This marks the fifth straight year that the Warriors have topped Sportico's list of NBA team valuations. Golden State's $11.3 billion value is a 24 percent increase from last year and ranks second among the most valuable global sports franchises behind only the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL, who are valued at $12.8 billion.
Thanks to the Warriors owning their home arena of the Chase Center, they raked in $833 million in revenue from games and non-NBA events. Most teams only operate their home arenas, so even the Knicks' $620 million in revenue was 34 percent lower than Golden State's.
The Warriors' last NBA title was in 2022, and veterans Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler are getting closer to the twilight of their legendary careers. It will be interesting to see how the franchise's value is affected in future years as Golden State nears the end of an era as the league's most recent dynasty.
