"The partnership will include the launch of Topps' Rookie Debut Patch and Gold NBA Logoman Patch when the regular season tips off on Oct. 21. The Topps Rookie Debut Patch is a one-of-a-kind patch affixed to a player's jersey during their debut game. The patch will be later removed, authenticated, and, once signed by the applicable player, inserted into a 1/1 Topps Rookie Debut Patch Autograph card to be included in a future Topps product," Fanatics Collectibles, the NBA and NBPA announced.
"Throughout the 2025-26 NBA regular season, the jerseys of the 2024-25 Kia NBA Most Valuable Player, Kia Rookie of the Year and Kia Defensive Player of the Year will feature the Gold NBA Logoman Patch on the back. The patches will later be inserted into trading cards and this program will continue for future seasons," the announcement added.
There has been significant hype surrounding Flagg's trading cards even before the Mavericks' top pick of the 2025 draft makes his NBA debut.
The most lucrative sale of a Flagg card so far took place last April, when a 2024 Topps Chrome McDonald's All-American Half-Court Offense Signatures SuperFractor 1/1 graded a Gem Mint 10 sold for $84,500 at auction from Goldin.
The value of Flagg memorabilia could climb even higher after he makes his NBA debut in next Wednesday's season opener against Victor Wembanyama and the visiting San Antonio Spurs.
The rookie is currently heading into the 2024-25 as a starting forward for the Mavs, although head coach Jason Kidd recently gave him a preseason look as starting point guard when De'Angelo Russell was sidelined.
With Kyrie Irving set to miss at least the start of the 2024-25 campaign after suffering a torn ACL in March, the Mavericks are in need of point guard depth and could potentially give Flagg more looks at the position this season.
However Flagg ultimately fits into the lineup, Kidd and the Mavs will hope he can ultimately grow into a role as lead ball-handler as the franchise enters the post-Luka Dončić era.
