Latest World Series 2025 Predictions from MLB Fans, Experts Amid Playoff Bracket

Erik BeastonOct 11, 2025

The Seattle Mariners became the latest team to cash their ticket to the League Championship Series Friday night, defeating the Detroit Tigers, 3-2. They now have a date with the Toronto Blue Jays in a seven-game series to determine the American League champions.

Over in the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers await the winner of the divisional series between the top-seeded Milwaukee Brewers and their NL Central rivals, the Chicago Cubs.

Find out now which of the teams is predicted to emerge as World Series champions among fans and experts?

Seattle Wins Its First World Series

Division Series - Detroit Tigers v Seattle Mariners - Game 5

The Seattle Mariners have been in existence since 1977 but have never competed in a World Series, let alone won one.

ESPN's David Schoenfield thinks that ends in 2025, with a team that has advanced to the ALCS for just the second time following their grueling 15-inning victory over Detroit Friday.

He wrote, "They hit the second-most home runs, they led all AL playoff teams in stolen bases, the bullpen ranked sixth in the majors in win probability added, the defense doesn't make many mistakes (and Julio Rodriguez is excellent in center)..."

Schoenfield previously predicted that, if the Mariners do win it all, Rodriguez would be the World Series MVP, becoming just the third center fielder

Rodriguez has cooled off a bit in these playoffs, tallying just four hits in five games, with a home run and three RBI. He struck out more than he should, nine times to be exact, but his defensive skill set in the outfield sets him apart and is a huge reason he is the star that he is. If his bat heats up, much like it did to end the season, he will have the opportunity to not only win individual accolades, but

AL MVP candidate Cal Raleigh will be equally as important and has shown out thus far in the playoffs, accumulating a .381 average, eight hits, four RBI, a home run, and a 1.051 OPS.

The Big Dumper has been a star for the Mariners all season, and that has continued with his play in the postseason. How he takes advantage of a Toronto Blue Jays rotation and bullpen that, despite the team's success, still gave up 18 runs in four games, will bear watching in the next round.

The Dodgers Become First Team to Repeat Since 2000

This Millennium has not seen a repeat World Series champion since the New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets in 2000 to win their third, consecutive title. That could change this year, with the Los Angeles Dodgers winning their second in as many seasons.

Jeff Passan of ESPN wrote, "It comes down to talent and experience -- and no team has more of either than the Dodgers."

The odds makers think so, too, with DraftKings Sportsbook making the defending champs the favorites to win it all in 2025.

MLB on FOX's Dontrell Willis and David Ortiz picked them to win at the start of the postseason.

Most importantly, the Dodgers know they are the favorites.

Bob Nightengle of USA Today wrote, "The Dodgers won't say it – not wanting to disrespect the other 10 teams still in the dance – but they believe this very well could be their World Series."

Despite the all of the confidence in the star-studded squad, they were one Orion Kerkering error away from potentially returning to Philadelphia with the unenviable task of taking a third game from the Phillies.

If they allow either the Cubs or the Brewers to hang around and stay competitive, the Dodgers will face the very real possibility that MLB is without a repeat champion for the 25th time this century.

Toronto Puts the Ball in Play, Can It Win A Pennant?

Division Series - Toronto Blue Jays v New York Yankees - Game Four

The Toronto Blue Jays have one of the best offenses in the game, as evidenced by their performance in the ALDS against the New York Yankees, where they hung 37 runs on their division foes in a 3-1 series win.

It is their ability to hit that makes them a potent offense and legitimate contender to win this year's World Series.

"Toronto put the ball in play in 81.7% of its plate appearances, first in the majors and the highest percentage by an AL team since the 2017 Astros. There's a connection here, of course: Springer played for both clubs. If that means anything, it bodes well for Toronto because Houston won the 2017 World Series," ESPN's Bradford Doolittle wrote.

Springer has been a difference-maker for Toronto this season, hitting .309, with 32 home runs, 84 RBI, and 154 total hits. He has been a spark for a squad with the league's best team average at .265 and on-base percentage at .333.

The team hits hard, hits often, and was tied for 11th in the majors with 191 home runs. If the pitching staff can limit Seattle's big bats and keep the ball in the yard, there is no reason to believe the Blue Jays will not return to the World Series for the first time since 1993, with an opportunity to bring Toronto its first Commissioner's Trophy in 32 years.
