Lakers' JJ Redick Says 'Nobody Was Freaking Out' About LeBron James' 2nd Decision

Andrew PetersOct 7, 2025

LeBron James had NBA fans on edge this week when he teased the "Second Decision," but those within the Los Angeles Lakers organization weren't panicking.

Amid retirement speculation, head coach J.J. Redick said he and his team weren't worried about what James planned to announce.

"Nobody was freaking out," Redick told reporters on Tuesday.

On Monday, James posted on his social media platforms that he planned to make "the decision of all decisions" on Tuesday. Rather than announcing his retirement, a trade request or something else regarding his basketball career, James' decision was instead an advertisement for Hennesy.

It's not the first time James has teased fans with what turned out to be an ad. Over the summer, he did an ad for Amazon that played into the retirement speculation.

James, who is 41 years old and entering his 23rd year in the league, is getting closer to retirement every season, but hasn't given fans much of an indication as to when he will hang it up.

When he does officially announce his retirement, it might take some convincing that it isn't just another commercial.
