NBA Won't Move All-Star Game From Clippers' Intuit Dome Amid Kawhi, Aspiration Probe

NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced on Monday that the league will not move the All-Star Game from the Los Angeles Clippers' home arena amid the league's investigation into whether the team circumvented the salary cap in regards to star forward Kawhi Leonard's dealings with the company Aspiration.

Per Brian Mahoney of the Associated Press, Silver said there is "no contemplation" to move this season's All-Star Game from the Intuit Dome.

The league announced last month that it was investigating the Clippers after a report from journalist Pablo Torre revealed a $28 million endorsement contract between Leonard and Aspiration, a now-bankrupt California-based sustainability services company. The company received a $50 million investment from Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, and the team announced a $300 million partnership with Aspiration in September 2021.

Mahoney noted that potential penalties for a team that breaks salary cap rules include "a fine of up to $7.5 million, the voiding of contracts and the forfeiture of future draft picks."

Still, Silver made it clear that moving the All-Star Game won't be among the potential punishments.

"There's no contemplation of moving the All-Star Game," Silver said, "and planning for the All-Star Game and the surrounding activities are operating completely independently of the ongoing investigation."

The Intuit Dome is entering just its second season after opening for the 2024-25 campaign. The 2026 All-Star Game is set for Feb. 15 on NBC.
