No. 1 CBB Prospect Tyran Stokes Reveals Kentucky and Top 5 Schools for 2026 Commitment
Tyran Stokes, the consensus top prospect of the 2026 class, has narrowed his college decision down to five schools.
The five-star small forward announced Monday on ESPN he will choose between Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Oregon and USC.
On3's Joe Tipton reported that Friday is seen as a "possible commitment date" for Stokes.
Stokes made his announcement Sunday night after starring for California's Notre Dame in a Border League matchup with Texas' Dynamic Prep.
The star prospect racked up 27 points and eight rebounds, while making clutch defensive plays on the other end of the court, to help lead Notre Dame to a comeback win.
Stokes, who measured in at 6-foot-7 and 230 pounds ahead of his senior high school season, also recently made his college football debut at wide receiver for Notre Dame.
He sparked rumors he was nearing a commitment decision when he signed a multi-year NIL deal with Nike last week, per footwear industry reporter Nick DePaula.
Kentucky, Oregon and USC are all Nike schools, but Kansas and Louisville are aligned with rival brand Adidas.
Tipton reported that sources were "less optimistic" about Kansas' chances after the Nike signing, and that Louisville and USC were seen as not having "great odds" of signing him.
Oregon, one of the rumored frontrunners to sign Stokes, recently received a commitment from 5-star forward and top-20 prospect Tajh Ariza.
Kentucky, meanwhile, has yet to sign any prospects to the 2026 class, although the Wildcats have received interest from top 5-star prospects including Jordan Smith, Cameron Williams and Cameron Holt, according to 247Sports.
