Fever's Kelsey Mitchell Released from Hospital After Treatment for Extreme Cramping
The Indiana Fever provided a positive update on star guard Kelsey Mitchell after she was forced to exit Tuesday's semifinal Game 5 against the Las Vegas Aces due to extreme cramping.
The Fever announced that Mitchell was treated at a local hospital and was released on Tuesday night. She's expected to make a full recovery.

In a statement shared to social media, Mitchell said she "suffered from something called Rhabdomyolysis."
"My muscles stopped producing and reached it's maximum capacity," she wrote. "I went into a sense of numbness/paralyzing feeling with no movement from my lower extremities for up to 5 to 7 seconds. Because my muscles stopped producing positive blood to my bloodstream, my body lucked up from a physical standpoint and from there fatigue and cramping settled in."
Mitchell said it "was an out of body experience," but added that she is back to "walking and moving at a slow pace" and ensured she "will be fine very soon."
Mitchell was forced to exit the game midway through the third quarter after appearing to experience leg cramps after a foul was called on Fever center Aliyah Boston. She laid on the floor for several minutes while being tended to by the team's medical staff. A stretcher was brought onto the court, but she refused to use it and eventually left with some assistance.
Per ESPN's Alexa Philippou, Indiana head coach Stephanie White said after the game that Mitchell suffered "a lot of lower-body cramping" and was transported to a hospital to receive fluids.
Mitchell, who led the team with 20.2 points during the regular season and 23.3 points during the playoffs, had 15 points prior to exiting the game. Despite losing their leading scorer, the Fever battled back from a nine-point deficit to force overtime, but they eventually lost 107-98 as the Aces advanced to the WNBA Finals.
"She's just had a phenomenal season," Aces star A'ja Wilson said of Mitchell. "I really hope the Indiana Fever take care of her. She's a phenomenal person, and I hate seeing her go down."
Indiana already lost five players to season-ending injuries this year, including star guard Caitlin Clark, so losing Mitchell was certainly a familiar feeling. Still, the Fever have a lot to build off of after advancing to the playoff semifinals for the first time in franchise history, so there should be a lot of optimism entering the 2026 season.
