76ers' Jared McCain Shares Videos from Hospital After Surgery for Thumb Injury
Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain shared a series of videos on Tuesday after undergoing surgery on a torn UCL in his right thumb.
"I feel good. I feel really good, actually. I just can't feel my arm," McCain said before laughing in a video shared on his Instagram story. "But everything happens for a reason, and I want you guys all to know that, and that life goes on."
McCain averaged 15.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists through 23 games of a breakout rookie campaign before suffering a season-ending left knee injury in early December.
The guard said earlier this month he was on pace to return in time for training camp. He then suffered the UCL tear while working out last Thursday, according to the Sixers.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported Friday that McCain was expected to undergo surgery and miss between four and six weeks with the injury.
That timeline could put McCain on track to miss the start of the 2025-26 regular season. The 76ers are set to kick off the campaign in three and a half weeks.
His latest injury update comes amid more uncertainty in Philadelphia regarding the injury status of Paul George and Joel Embiid, who both said last Friday they have no timetable regarding a return from their own knee injuries.
The Sixers will hope to get some good injury news by the time the regular season tips off with an Oct. 22 road game against the Boston Celtics.
