Jonathan Kuminga, Warriors Reportedly Haven't Eyed Deadline Extension Amid NBA Rumors
The battle of wills between Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors could be coming to an end soon.
Per NBA insider Jake Fischer, there have been "no discussions" between the Warriors and Kuminga about extending the deadline for him to accept the qualifying offer.
League rules state that qualifying offers expire on Oct. 1, but that deadline can be pushed back if the player and team agree to do so.

Given how fractured the relationship appears to be between Kuminga and the Warriors, there's no reason for either side to want to extend that deadline.
Fischer noted there's no indication the Warriors are going to change their most recent offers to Kuminga, which are for three years and $75 million or two years and $45 million. Both deals include a team option for the final year.
Kuminga's agent, Aaron Turner, has said publicly his client would accept either of those proposals if the team option was turned into a player option.
If the Warriors don't budge on their stance, Turner also noted there is "a lot of upside" in the qualifying offer for Kuminga. Even though the one-year tender would only pay him $8 million, he would become an unrestricted free agent next summer going into his age-24 season.
Assuming there is no extension on the deadline, Kuminga could end up signing his contract by Wednesday. That would also allow the Warriors to finally sign an outside free agent, which they have not done all offseason.
It's been expected for some time that Al Horford is going to sign with Golden State as soon as the Kuminga situation gets resolved.
Kuminga averaged 15.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in 47 appearances for the Warriors last season.
The Warriors will open training camp on Monday, with their first preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers scheduled for Oct. 5. Those two teams will open the regular season in Los Angeles on Oct. 21.
