Blazers' Scoot Henderson Suffers Hamstring Injury, Out 4-8 Weeks
Portland Trail Blazers guard Scoot Henderson is expected to miss between four and eight weeks after suffering a torn left hamstring during an offseason workout, the team announced Friday.
Henderson averaged 12.7 points and 5.1 assists per game while shooting 41.9 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from behind the arc across 66 appearances during the 2024-25 season.
The Trail Blazers selected the 21-year-old with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft.
Henderson appeared in 62 contests as a rookie, missing time due to a right ankle sprain. He recorded 14.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game on 38.5/32.5/81.9 shooting splits during his inaugural year in the association.
Henderson was expected to challenge for a larger role in Portland's rotation entering the 2025-26 season despite Shaedon Sharpe and offseason acquisition Jrue Holiday likely set to occupy the team's starting backcourt spots. The Trail Blazers dealt guard Anfernee Simons to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Holiday in July.
Portland is already managing Damian Lillard's torn Achilles, as the veteran guard is expected to return during the 2026-27 season after he was added in free agency once the Milwaukee Bucks released him.
With Henderson's upcoming absence, 2023 second-round pick Rayan Rupert is a candidate to receive extended playing time off the bench.
The Trail Blazers will open the regular season against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 22.
