Dwight Howard's Emotional Reaction to Basketball HOF Induction News Revealed in Video
Legendary center Dwight Howard was overcome with emotion upon learning he was going into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
The eight-time All-Star was competing on the reality television series Inside when the producers alerted him to his newly earned HOF status. He took a moment to reflect on how his entire journey in the sport led to him receiving the highest individual achievement:
Howard was one of eight people in the Hall of Fame's 2025 class. The United States' men's Olympic team from 2008 was honored as well during this month's ceremony.
Howard's career tailed off pretty quickly and he turned into a journeyman as he entered his 30s. That didn't change how disruptive he was during his peak, though.
In eight years with the Orlando Magic, the 6'10" big averaged 18.4 points, 13 rebounds and 2.2 blocks. He was the Defensive Player of the Year for three straight seasons from 2009-11. Howard was also a first-team All-NBA honoree in each of his final five years in Orlando.
The franchise's trip to the 2009 NBA Finals was another sign of his impact on the court.
A place in Springfield, Massachusetts, was well deserved.
