Celtics' Jaylen Brown Delivers Speech for 'Bill Nye the Science Guy' at Walk of Fame
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown gave a speech at a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in honor of mechanical engineer Bill Nye, host of the famous and beloved Bill Nye the Science Guy show, a science education television series for children that aired in syndication from 1993-1999.
"My love for science runs deep," Brown said.

"And I have Bill to thank for that, but not just for myself, for a generation of students who grew up in the public school system, possibly thinking that school was not for them. You know, Bill was the bright spot in all of our day. When they rolled that TV out with the trolley, like, we knew what time it was.
"But Bill did not just teach science. He taught a generation of students of all walks of life to explore, to discover, to create, and also to ask questions. So, Bill this Walk of Fame, it's not just for an incredible career. It's also for the curiosity you spark, the doors you've opened, and the minds you continue to inspire all over the globe. This Walk of Fame is more than deserving. Thank you from a generation of students who grew up watching you, listening to your voice. Thank you for changing the world one dad joke and one science experiment at a time."
Brown then gave the floor to the man of the hour, who eventually received his well-deserved star.
As noted by Conor Ryan of boston.com, Nye's iconic program won 19 Emmy awards. It influenced generations of children (and adults), a group that includes Brown, who made his interest in meeting Nye public last November.
He got his wish just three weeks later, when Boston visited Washington D.C. for a game against the Wizards. Brown scored 31 points in a 108-96 win.
Less than a year later, Brown was present in Los Angeles for a major honor. It's a great way for Brown to wrap up his offseason before the Celtics begin training camp shortly. Boston's regular season begins soon as well on Oct. 22 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
