Wemby Predicted to Be NBA's Best Player over Luka, SGA, Tatum in 2030 by Insiders
There are a handful of NBA players who appear on their way to stardom over the next decade, but one player is seen as the future of the league by insiders.
ESPN's Tim Bontemps polled a handful of NBA insiders on various questions, including who will be the best player in the NBA in 2030. The answer was overwhelmingly San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama received 16 of 20 votes, with Luka Dončić behind him with two votes and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jayson Tatum receiving one each.
Through his first two seasons, Wembanyama has given fans every reason to believe he's on his way to being the best player in the league. He's averaged 22.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.7 blocks and 1.2 steals per game across his first two campaigns, and he's still just 21 years old.
He faced a setback last season when he missed the second half of the season due to deep vein thrombosis, but it appears he's well on his way to returning to full form when the season begins.
Assuming he can avoid injuries, the question for Wembanayama is not so much if he will be the best player in the league, but rather when will he be the best player in the league.
