Jaylen Brown Says 'It's a New Era' for Celtics After Trades amid Jayson Tatum Injury

The 2025-26 season will look very different for the Boston Celtics after trading away key players and losing star forward Jayson Tatum to a torn Achilles.

During a recent live stream, Celtics star guard Jaylen Brown acknowledged that the team is facing a new beginning following the major changes this offseason.

"It feels like a new era," Brown said. "Half the team is gone. I wish them the best. I appreciate them. They were great teammates, so it's kind of sad to see them go. It's a new era, everything has kind of changed and shifted."

And to top it all off, Brown added, "JT got braids, I don't know what the hell is going on."

Tatum has a lot of time on his hands to play with his hairstyle after suffering a torn Achilles in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks. He will likely miss the entire 2025-26 season, leaving Brown as the focal point of the Celtics offense.

Boston also unloaded veteran point guard Jrue Holiday and big man Kristaps Porzingis in trades, and the team lost longtime center Al Horford to free agency.

The Celtics won't be facing high expectations this season, but Brown will certainly do his best to ensure that the team remains in playoff contention.
