The previous record of 56 home runs was set by Griffey in 1997 before he accomplished the same feat in 1998.
Raleigh tied the Mariners' record during a 12-5 win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday and also became the first switch-hitter in MLB history to compile more than 55 homers in a single season.
The catcher acknowledged the achievement after the game.
"It's very cool," Raleigh said, via MLB.com's Jackson Stone. "Very humbled by it. Crazy kind of thing. I never thought it would happen. … It's crazy. Not a lot of words to describe it. Just very grateful for it."
He previously set the single-season record for the most home runs by a primary catcher with 49 on Aug. 24.
Raleigh is in the midst of a dominant season at the plate, amassing 22 doubles and 94 walks to go along with 119 RBI. He's also posted a career-high .949 OPS.
The 28-year-old hasn't slowed down as of late, owning a .296/.449/.685 slash line with six homers over his past 15 games.
Raleigh's latest home run came at a crucial time, as the Mariners entered Saturday's action with a narrow one-game lead over the Astros for the top spot in the American League West with an 85-69 record.
Seattle is looking to secure its first division crown since 2001.
