Mudiay Out vs. Suns

Mudiay did not play against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
Mudiay's Injury Disrupts Development
The Nuggets selected Mudiay with the seventh pick in the 2015 NBA draft, and he was seemingly tabbed as the team's floor general of the future at the time. That assumption was confirmed once Denver dealt point guard Ty Lawson and a 2017 second-round pick to the Houston Rockets in exchange for forwards Joey Dorsey and Kostas Papanikolaou, guards Nick Johnson and Pablo Prigioni—a lottery-protected 2016 first-round pick and cash considerations.
Mudiay has not disappointed overall, as he's averaging 11 points, six assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. He's struggled from three-point range, hitting just over 25 percent from distance, and is averaging four turnovers per game, but overall, Mudiay's rookie season has been a strong one.
With Mudiay out, veteran point guard Jameer Nelson will step in and take over at the 1. A steady three-point shooter and savvy defender, the 33-year-old Nelson can help keep Denver's offense flowing at an appropriate pace so long as the rookie is banged-up.
