Molly Qerim announced Tuesday that she is leaving her role as host of the popular ESPN debate show First Take after 10 years on the job.

Qerim released a statement regarding her departure on her Instagram Stories (h/t Christian Arnold of the New York Post), writing:

"After much reflection, I've decided it's time to close this incredible chapter and step away from First Take. Hosting this show has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Every morning, I had the privilege of sharing the desk with some of the most brilliant, passionate, and entertaining voices in sports—and with all of you, the best fans in the world.

"I'm so grateful for what this journey has given me: lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and the chance to be part of something truly special. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for welcoming me into your homes."

ESPN President, Content Burke Magnus released a statement in response to Qerim's announcement, showing appreciation for her contributions to First Take and ESPN as a whole:

While Qerim did not indicate in her statement that she is leaving ESPN entirely, Austin Karp of Sports Business Journal reported Monday that Qerim rejected ESPN's offer of a new contract, and she will depart the network at the end of the year.

A graduate of UConn and Quinnipiac University, Qerim started with ESPN's digital team in 2006, contributing to College Football Live and Fantasy Football Now.

She left ESPN in 2008 to take positions at CBS Sports Network and NFL Network before returning to ESPN in 2015 when she was named interim host of First Take after Cari Champion left the show.

Qerim became the full-time host shortly thereafter, making her the moderator between Stephen A. Smith and the many analysts he debated over the years, including Skip Bayless, Max Kellerman and Shannon Sharpe.

While it is unclear if Qerim already has a new position lined up elsewhere, the 41-year-old is set to become one of the biggest free agents in sports media.
