Klay Thompson, Mavs Reportedly Held Team-Bonding Camp, Anthony Davis Hosted Dinner

Andrew PetersSep 15, 2025

The Dallas Mavericks reportedly are spending the last few weeks of the offseason ensuring their team is on the same page ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Per NBA insider Marc Stein, the Mavericks, "at the urging of sharpshooter Klay Thompson," met up in Newport Beach, California, earlier this month "for a well-attended bonding camp."

According to Stein, star Anthony Davis was unable to partake in on-court activities at the camp because of his eye surgery in July, but he did host a dinner for his teammates while they were in town.

The team-bonding camp comes ahead of what should be an exciting season for the Mavs.

Dallas will lean primarily on veterans Thompson and Davis, but will also look to rookie and potential generational prospect Cooper Flagg to have a big first season. While a core of Thompson, Davis and Flagg will keep the Mavericks competitive, they're hopes of competing for a title depend heavily on the health of Kyrie Irving, who is not expected to return from his torn ACL injury until at least halfway through the season.

The ceiling is high for this year's Mavericks' squad, and it's clear they're locked in heading into the year.
